[Newbie] Startup of Exist-db fails

Hayim Lapin
I am a relatively new user of Exist, running version 3.1 [downloaded 3.1.1 today with the same problem] on windows.

Yesterday, exist began failing at startup (I think after a java upgrade?) I get a splash screen and then installation fails. Any suggestions about what I can fix?

JAVA_HOME is unchanged from prior versions
EXIST_HOME is set as C:\exist-db

Java version is Java 8 1.8.0_121-b13

Exist log is as follows:

how do you start exist-db?

it might be interesting to check in C:\exist-db what you see when typing java -jar start.jar .

Did you install eXIst-db as a service? I am not sure what happens if the original Java install changes.

please could you check the contents of tools/yajsw/conf/wrapper.conf ?

I don’t have a windows PC around, so I cannot check myself…. Maybe someone else can step in...

Hi again,
Not sure what I exactly, just now, but when I checked the URL again the application came up.
Will resubmit if something changes.

This log seems to not contains usefull information
The problem should be loogged elsewhere

eXist has been installed as a service
The service appears in Windows Task Monitor Services Tab
Service seems to be started.
But yajsw logs directory is empty

But no icon in background tasks for eXist Menu for eXist db Launcher
(bottom right part of the screen, as usual under Windows)

I have installed eXist 3.1.1 (same Java)
On a Web server Windows 2012 R2
I have not this problem

Ok thnx for the feedback! I suspected that during registration of "eXist-db as a service" the path to the used Java was embedded. Reinstalling the service fixes the issue as you pointed out.
