wrapper: symlink to tools/wrapper/bin/exist.sh not working

Matthias Guth
Hi all,

i just did a fresh, clean build (git dev) under linux (Linux kjc-ws118
3.2.0-110-generic #151-Ubuntu SMP Tue Aug 30 13:55:18 UTC 2016 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) and created the symlink to init.d to start/stop
it (according to the wiki):

> ln -s /path/to/exist/tools/wrapper/bin/exist.sh /etc/init.d/exist-test

Starting fails with:

> :~/exist-test$ sudo service exist-test start
> Unable to locate any of the following binaries:
>   /path/to/exist/tools/wrapper/bin/./wrapper-linux-x86-64
>   /path/to/exist/tools/wrapper/bin/./wrapper-linux-x86-32
>   /path/to/exist/tools/wrapper/bin/./wrapper

Any idea on this?

Best,
Matthias

In my notes I have:

$ vi tools/wrapper/bin/exist.sh
   […] # uncomment RUN_AS_USER= and give a username but root
$ sudo tools/wrapper/bin/exist.sh install
$ sudo service eXist-db start
$ ls -lrt tools/wrapper/logs

That WFM

Hi Peter,

thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I get the same errors trying to use the install parameter:

:~/exist-test$ sudo service exist-test start
Unable to locate any of the following binaries:
  /path/to/exist/tools/wrapper/bin/./wrapper-linux-x86-64
  /path/to/exist/tools/wrapper/bin/./wrapper-linux-x86-32
  /path/to/exist/tools/wrapper/bin/./wrapper

Cheers,
Matthias
