xqueries have stopped working eXist-1.0b2-build-1107.jar

Axis User
Hi,
I've upgraded from eXist-snapshot-20050805.jar to
eXist-1.0b2-build-1107.jar and a number of previously working xqueries
have stopped working.

Exceptions include:

org.exist.xquery.XPathException: unexpected char: '''
        at org.exist.xmldb.RemoteXPathQueryService.throwException(RemoteXPathQueryService.java:79)

and 'unexpected token: replace' for update replace queries.

Do I need to rewrite the queries to get them to work with 1.0b2 or is this bug?

Thanks,

Err, that's not what I call an "upgrade".

But I can see that "1107" is going to be a problem as the last "official"
release is approaches its first birthday. Too late to call it 20041107 now,
though.

Maybe that "health warning" re 1.02b2 on the project home page should be
"upgraded"  to a Todesanzeige.

And I mean a real Germanic-style one (which is why I didn't say "obituary
notice"), big black-framed full display layout, with maybe several variants
on the same page, with different sectors of the eXist-Gemeinde all
expressing their (in this case fairly superficial) grief at its passing...

Or at the very least the health warning needs to be under the "Stable
Version" header. If someone was coming to the exist-db.org site just
looking to download the file, they'll probably skip over everything else
on the page just to get to the  download link. With the health warning
being above the header, it is very easy to disregard it. (despite best
efforts to make it noticeable)

Actually, if you're going to be rearranging the front page, put the
"Development Snapshots" above the "Stable Version" making it clear that
the snapshot is the most up to date version available. If that's not
enough, the next step would be a javascript confirm box. "You have
chosen to download a really old version of eXist. Using beta2 cannot be
recommended any more. Are you sure you want to do this? [yes] [no]"
